As the individual characters level they gain new abilities that lean towards their predetermined roles such as tanks or healers. What initially seems to lack depth, only offering basic attack and heal options, continuously grows throughout the adventure. It’s not just that they use a type that is less common these days but that they also do it really well. The other big kudos has to go to the combat. That small complaint aside, there is so much to enjoy from the flashy special attacks, dungeon lighting and so much more that you will never be left wanting in the visuals department. If there was one gripe it would be that when transitioned into the combat sequences the graphical fidelity lost a bit of its sharpness and appeared a bit fuzzier than intended for the larger displays used today. The cut scenes could easily be their own anime and the imagery of the avatars in dialogue looked like they were pulled right off of their news stand counterparts. The use of bold colours and dark outlines were so well done that it was no surprise this game was based on a fantasy comic book series. The element that immediately stood out to me was the graphical presentation. ![]() This is where Battle Chasers: Nightwar comes in, a title developed with all the best of the genres nostalgia in mind but with a respectful effort to modernize it towards the current generation of gaming. As a result, the indie, digital and budget release markets must be more heavily relied on in order to find that fix. Basically, cluster bosses together if you can to maximize exp shrines.Those gamers looking for a traditional turn based RPG are left with fewer and fewer options as the biggest names of the genre shift towards more action oriented combat styles. Then, you can use one battle on the dungeon boss, and another on the bandit airship, and still have one leftover. I always save a shrine before a legendary dungeon boss fight, and save-reset until I get an exp one. ![]() Bandit Scouts are particularly effective because they summon a new wave, but slimes can replicate themselves in two boss fights. If you find enemies that can summon more, milk it. You may not be able to one-shot the Hulking Guns, but you can one shot trash bandits, which will award the same amount of %-based exp from the total pool. If you can get three other enemies with a unit that doles out a lot of exp (eg the Hulking Guns, Alphas) for a two, even three-wave fight, you get a wave bonus AND the additional exp seems to scale really well. Try and gather large amounts of enemies in one go. I posted this somewhere else, but a few other tips: You just need to end with the party at full health.Īn easy way to accomplish both this (and the Perfect one) is to get Sully's start-with-a-shield perk. You forgot the Full Health bonus, which is also fairly significant. A great way to use this is with "miniboss" enemies, or "combo" groups. If done right, you should skyrocket in XP, and your whole party should go up multiple levels. Seek out the strongest enemy you can, preferably at least 3 levels higher than your party, and one-shot all enemies one-by-one. Look at your available party, and dump all of your damage gear into the single strongest attack you have, preferably single-target. (I recommend damage, early game you can use Devil's Tripel for +40 attack to your party for 3 fights) Obviously, you have to *win* the fight, but if you're having issues, you can grind battle burst, get shrines, and use pre-fight bonuses. the bigger the level gap, the more XP you get, which compounds with bonus XP. Pretty simple, but typically only granted on a fight that yields low XP.Īs for how to level, my go-to is to try and find the highest level, toughest enemy I can, ASAP. Unreliable and low bonus.ĭon't take any damage. Seems to be based on total time, not number of actions. If not, don't lose out on the one-shot bonus in a failed attempt. Like overkill, it's not an amazing bonus. Don't try for this specifically, it's just a nice extra. Unlike one-shot wonder, this doesn't yield too much XP, but does trigger off of most kills done by one-shot. You will, however, get credit if they die from a status effect caused from the one attack, such as poison or fire, even if it takes several ticks. If they're damaged by any other means (other enemies, dungeon abilities, etc) you won't get credit. ![]() It's the most reliable, and yields significant gains.
